PORTLAND ADVERTISING INDUSTRY EMERGENCY FUND The Portland Advertising Industry Emergency Fund was formed in 1987 to provide a financial safety net for advertising, public relations, media and communications professionals faced with personal or medical tragedy. A non-profit organization run by an all-volunteer board, AIEF has awarded 45 grants totaling $151,950 during the past 18 years. AIEF is an ongoing trust that makes funds available to help members of the communications industry pay for expenses that insurance companies may not cover, including medical bills, prescriptions, nursing care, housing, child care, utilities, etc. Those wishing to apply for assistance can do so anonymously through a third party; all grants are strictly confidential. Anyone working in advertising, marketing, public relations, communications, media or print for a minimum of 12 months (or absent from the industry for less than one year) is eligible to apply for an AIEF grant. In addition to donations from individuals and organizations, AIEF holds fund-raising events throughout the year. The Bowl-A-Rama held every May is our longest running and most anticipated event each year.
